Our House Guest

Meet Callie. She belonged to the father of a dear friend. He recently passed away and my dear friend was driving 1 hour (one way) a couple of times a day to feed Callie. She was staying at her mother in law's for a family reunion. When I heard this, I volunteered to let Callie come to our house. I would do pretty much anything for this friend as she was one of my pillars when my dad died. Callie came on Saturday. She was so sad, you could see it in her eyes. It broke my heart. She probably could have slept on my bed if she could have gotten her fat little self up there. This is how her life here was. The kids adored her and wanted to be with her every minute. She finally took refuge behind the couch.

Abby was very good at reminding me when she needed her medicine (so she can fly) and that she needed food. Callie was very good at letting Abby pet her all day long and call her, "Girly".

Isaac so wants a dog and loved Callie from minute one. He quickly volunteered to pick up the poop and take her on walks. He cried as we left her. This is one boy who should have a dog. Unfortunately for him, he has a mom that is through with the cleaning up poop stage in life. I do love dogs, and even I was sad to give her up.

Anna was very good with Callie and really the only person besides me Callie would go for a walk with.

Noah was the only one who managed to dodge the pooper scooper duty. Not quite sure how he managed that one. He, too is very sad to have had to give her up.

Callie will soon be on her way to live with a family member in Arkansas. She was a very quiet and easy house guest. She only barked a couple times. It was fun having her and great for the kids to work on the responsibility of owning a pet. And although the experience was great, we still only have pet rocks in this house.
